Ahoy Adventurers,

There has been A LOT happening since our Steam Next Fest demo and today we want to take some time to catch you up on what's been going on behind the scenes. We are excited to officially announce that Paradox Arc has joined us as the publishing partner for Guardians of the Wild Sky! This partnership gives us additional support and resources we need, while our team continues to lead development with full creative freedom over the game and the world we have been building for the last few years. We know an announcement like this will naturally have some questions about what it means for the game and the road ahead. So, rather than leave you wondering, we wanted to take some time to talk about the partnership, why we’re excited about it and what it means for the future of Guardians of the Wild Sky.

Before we dive in, take a moment and watch the development interview with our co-founder Brenden Frank and business developer Denis Komatina from Paradox Arc.

Expanding the Skies

Same Vision with Greater Possibilities

The heart, soul and vision behind Guardians of the Wild Sky will remain firmly in the hands of our team here at Blue Isle Studios. As many of you know, we are a small but mighty team of 12 developers and prior to this partnership with Paradox Arc we were entirely self-funded. Now this gives us the opportunity to push the scope of the game even further than we originally planned.

During development there were features we truly loved but ultimately had to scale back or leave on the butcher’s block. With additional time and resources we now have the opportunity to revisit some of that content and bring more of it back into the game. That means things like new weapon types, improved animations, more cohesive structures that better fit the game's atmosphere, new Guardians, and plenty more!

Time and Scaling

Since Steam Next Fest we have also taken a close look at all of the feedback you shared with us. We have spent a lot of time evaluating which parts of the game worked, and areas that need more attention. We’ve always believed in our ability to deliver a complete game and this partnership gives us the time and support to raise the bar. Our goal has always been to build a game that we can continue growing and supporting for years to come. Paradox has a vast library of games that they’ve continued to support for the long run and that philosophy aligns closely with what we want for Guardians of the Wild Sky. Ultimately, we’d like this game to live on for years and years to come.

Marketing Support

Working with Paradox will give Guardians of the Wild Sky a stronger marketing push, helping us introduce the game to more players and grow the community throughout development. Bringing more players into the skies means more voices, more feedback, and more opportunities for us to learn as we continue shaping the game.

We will continue running playtests and opening the game up to more community members so you can get your hands on the game and help us heading in the right direction. We’re building this game with the heart of our community in mind, and together we want to create a unique survival adventure unlike anything we’ve made before.

FAQ

  • Will there be paid DLCs

    • At this time, we don’t have any plans for paid DLC. Our focus is on delivering the best possible version of Guardians of the Wild Sky and building a strong core community around the game. During Early Access, all updates and content will be free. After full release, if players want more of the game, we'll make more, and that will come as free updates and DLCs where fitting.

  • How much control will Blue Isle Studios have on the game

    • We retain full creative control over Guardians of the Wild Sky. We sit firmly in the captain’s seat, steering the creative vision and development of the game, while Paradox Arc helps support the ship with areas such as QA, localization, and marketing.

  • Will there be more playtests/demos

    • Yes!! We absolutely have more demos and playtests planned but first we will continue to make some important changes to the game. We are working on a stronger FTUE, new animations, new structures, and plenty more so there is a lot of polish we need to finalize before running our next major playtest. If you’d like to participate in future playtests, we strongly suggest joining our Discord and grabbing the playtester role in the role-pick channel. That way, you’ll be among the first to hear when we’re ready to open the skies again!

  • When will the game be released

    • We are currently targeting a release sometime in 2027, although we do not have a firm release date to share just yet. We are using this additional development time to give our team the opportunity to further polish and elevate the overall game experience, while building a strong foundation that will support the game for years to come. We want to make sure we are putting our best foot forward when we finally welcome all our adventures to set out into the skies.

A note to our community…

We’re going to use this additional time and support to create the best version of Guardians of the Wild Sky we possibly can. We love this game, we believe deeply in what it can become, and we’re going to give it everything we have. We hope you’ll continue to sail the cloud seas alongside us and help shape these skies together.

Please feel free to follow our socials or our Discord community, we appreciate all of you. Thank you.
